Butterfly Roof Treehouse

nestled among giant oak
trees—a lush hideaway where
they could roll a piano onto
an outdoor terrace and play
music under the stars.”
Designed for a secluded one-acre parcel
surrounded by 125-year-old protected valley
oaks, this project balances respect for the
natural landscape with the owners’ desire
for light-filled interiors. The butterfly roof
design creates dramatic upward views to
the sky above the treetops, while
expansive north-facing windows
fill the home with natural light.
Outdoor spaces include a dramatic infinityedge pool, an outdoor kitchen, and a
repurposed pool transformed into a koi
pond and spa. A central patio accommodates
a baby grand piano for spontaneous
musical performances under the stars,
blending architectural elegance with artistic
expression.
