Any photographer will share their feelings about the “magic hour.”
Painting
rooms
with
natural,
invigorating
lignt.
California has its own special light. Yet few places in the Central Valley
truly experience it in its finest hour like the dramatic landforms of the
Southwest desert with their long shadows racing across nature’s architecture like a cosmic sundial. Observing the brilliant desert light that
emerges from cracks between boulders, floods small caves and washes
canyon walls is to experience magic. Giant canyon rooms become intimate
and inspire a strong connection between outside and inside. Back here,
we don’t have the inspirational geography of the Southwest and our expectation of good weather numbs senses to the drama of daylight and its magic.
This project had to transform the predictable and reinvigorate the senses.
